​CAREER
Jhon grew up in the youth sector of FC San Antonio and Independiente del Valle, making his debut in the national league at the age of 18 on 2 December 2017 with his club Deportivo Cuenca in the 3-1 loss against LDU Quito. 2 appearances in total until the end of the year.

In the following season he made his league debut on 10 March 2018 in the 4-1 defeat against Emelec and in the first part of the season he totaled 5 appearances. 16 July 2018 was loaned to SC Aucas making his debut on 31 July against Independiente in which he shows off with the decisive assist for the 1-0 final. He puts together 16 appearances with 2 assists until the end of the year. In the 2019/2020 season he makes his debut on 17 March against the LDU Quito and totaled 15 appearances between the league and the national cup with 1 assist.

Jhon is a thrusting right-back who makes physical power and speed his strengths.

Very skilled in overlapping and crosses, he loves to aim for the direct opponent and create danger from the flank or from the back but often focuses on the area looking for phrasing with his teammates. Gifted with a powerful physique he is very strong in aerial duels and hand-to-hand combat.

He knows how to do both phases of coverage and defense-attack transition very well with great physical expenditure and running, while maintaining the necessary clarity in the key moments of the game.
