CAREER
He started his career in the youth team of Club Zorzal, a team located in Montevideo, his hometown. He was bought sucesively from Defensor Sporting Club, where, in January 2020, he moved from the U19 selection to the first team, making his debut in the end of August of the same year, in the match won 2-1 against Liverpool Montevideo.
In the season 2020-2021, he collected 17 appearances scoring 1 goal and serving 3 assists. By now with Defensor Sporting he collected 38 apparences in all the competitions, scoring 3 goles and serving 5 assists. Matias has 24 caps for Uruguay U17. He was the main charachter of the 2019 Sudamericano U17. 

DESCRIPTION

Matias Ocampo is a left winger, who can also play on the right wing and mostly in the center as offensive playmaker. 
However, he prefers to play with the foot reversed, and then re-enter the field where he can go to
conclusion, but also serve assists for teammates. Having a superb individual technique, very good in the 1 vs 1, he also has strong spirit of sacrifice when his
team is not in possession of the ball. In fact, it is not uncommon to see him chasing his opponent right up to or at the limit of his area. He is a player with an high confidence, he touch the ball many times and he is often the key of the offensive game. He is a player that is whitout doubt ready for European Football.
