CAREER
Lorenz went through all the youth teams of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim from 2009 onwards, he did the whole process from the very young up to the U-19 where he played among other things the final of the German championship in 2016. He was promoted to the squad of the second team for the 2016/17 season and made 52 appearances (7 goals) in the Regionalliga Südwest in the following year and a half and where he became captain, as well as making a professional appearance in the Europa League match against Ludogorez Rasgrad on 7 December 2017.

On 31 January 2018, Lorenz moved to VfL Bochum, where he was expected to jump to the 2. Bundesliga, and signs a contract until 30 June 2020.
However, he fails to establish himself immediately as hoped and in the second half of the 2017/18 season of the season he fails to collect even a presence.
For the 2018/19 season, Lorenz is on loan to TSV 1860 München in the third division, based on a recommendation from his former team-mate and later TSG 1899 Hoffenheim manager Julian Nagelsmann. He plays 37 of the possible 38 league games and finishes twelfth with the team.
After his return from loan, Lorenz was the holder of the defense in the first half of the season, but subsequently lost his job and was only used sporadically; even before the end of the season, Bochum announced that they have not extended their expiring contract.
For the 2020/21 season, the defender moves to Holstein Kiel where he has received a three-year contract.

​TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
Simon is mainly used as a central defender in a 4-man defense, but has repeatedly played as a central in a 3-man defense. On some occasions he has also occupied the position of central midfielder and right winger.
He combines excellent defensive qualities with equally excellent directing and finalization qualities.
It is a Normotype of tall stature and medium structure and weight and has a toned musculature, of excellent harmony and definition both in the lower part and in the upper part of the body, with particular reference to the shoulders and pectoral.
The boy is endowed with good maximal and explosive strength, good flexibility and is good at speed both in the strait and in the long run.

In the possession phase he develops his action mainly on the central axis, even in the non-possession phase he prefers to play in the center but if necessary he is also good at closing on the outside to cover the full backs.
He is an extremely flexible player, as demonstrated by the fact that in his career he has held roles other than central, such as full-back and central midfielder.
He is at ease in both 4 and 3 defense, a solution that in my opinion suits his characteristics as a backward playmaker.

CHARACTERIAL DESCRIPTION
Simon is a solid and reliable guy, very confident of his skills that is very direct and open with people around him, he never gives up as demonstrated during the second part of 2019 and in last part of season in 2020 where he wasn't a regulaer starter. Very professional, as for the German mindset, he sacrifice totally for the team, Nagelsmann that has been his trainer in Hoffenheim, can confirm the description. He really cares about his health by being vegetarian and works also during holydays with mental coach and trainers to never be out of condition. Has a strong charachter, has been captain of all the teams until now in Holstein Kiel. ​
